What is Visual Processing?

Visual Processing is a big job, and includes three main areas that impact our ability to accomplish tasks:

  • Functional Vision- including oculomotor skills which are and acuity 

  • Visual Perceptual Skills- using visual information to understand how objects around us are related to one another and to ourselves and interpreting what they are seeing)

  • Visual Motor Skills- the integration of visual information with actions in order to complete tasks.

Common signs your child has difficulty with Visual Processing
  • Messy handwriting

  • Difficulty with reading

  • Letter reversals

  • Trouble coloring in the lines

  • Difficulty with letter formation (sequence, size, and spacing between letters and words)

  • Unable to find toys/items in busy environment

  • Difficulty with copying 

  • ​Making letters fit in space or on line
